Cruise & Crawl at the Hemet Valley Mall Year 2
April 28, 2014
Saturday April 12, 2014, the second Cruise & Crawl at the Hemet Valley Mall was celebrated at the rear parking lot behind Sears. 108 classic cars came to get the chance to win a trophy and a 43″ Samsung t.v. donated by Sears. The event was sponsored by Sears, the Gosch Auto Group (Toyota, Ford, Chevy), and Chrysler. Pep Boys and Goodrich Tires also sponsored booths. The live band Crazy Creek filled the afternoon with great country music, and the people loaded up on bar-b-q and Mexican food. There was a magician, jumper and a face painter for the children.
The car show is hosted by the mall in partnership with HomeInstead. This year the event raised funds for MFI Recovery, a non-profit organization that among other things, helps teens who have addition problems. This year $3,776 was raised for MFI Recovery and it was awarded to their representative Michael Ramirez during the Community Action Network (CAN) meeting at City Hall last April 17. On the photo below from the left are Vonda Palacions (HVM), Shella Lizardi (HVM), Michael Ramirez (MRI), Jacyn Klingaman (HomeInstead), and Cathy Perks (HomeInstead.
This year’s Best of Show went to Pete Delia for his 1934 Ford (photo shown). Other Prizes are:
Best Interior: Leo Rodriguez 1968 Chevelle, Best Custom Modified: Eric Blankenbeckler 2006 Dodge, Best Paint: John Chapman 1956 Chevy Pickup, and Best Foreign: Art McCollum 1960 Austin Healy.
